Glen Phillips, the American singer, songwriter, and lead singer of Toad the Wet Sprocket, is coming to My Father’s Place at the Roslyn Hotel on December 5th. Phillips’ music with the band consisted of pop music, paired with folk sounds. Meanwhile, his solo career seems to focus more on emotional truths and love and relationships, which is complemented by spiritual understanding. In an article with NEWS8, Phillips mentioned, “A major chapter of my life was coming to a close, and I discovered early on that I had to work hard to get through the transition with compassion and clarity. These songs were a big part of that process.” He talks about how he made this new album during the ‘dissolution’ of a 23 year marriage. It’s vulnerable, open, and empathetic. Phillips originally started off with Toad the Wet Sprocket in 1986, when he was still in high school. His new journey as a solo artist will be an acoustic duo tour, along with Swallowed by the New. Tickets to the December 5th show at My Father’s Place at The Roslyn are still on sale, and selling for $53 USD. for GA.
