Indie rock band Warpaint has announced its sophomore album, which will be self-titled and is set to drop in January 2014.
The Los Angeles-based quartet had a successful debut album, The Fool, in 2010 and are back in the game with Warpaint. The album, which will be released by Rough Trade, was mostly recorded and mixed by Flood, with the exception of two tracks that were mixed by Nigel Godrich. It was inspired by some writing and recording sessions in The Joshua Tree in 2012, where they were joined by director Chris Cunningham. You can already listen to a single from Warpaint, “Love Is To Die.”
Cunningham spent two years filming and photographing the band while they made new music, and is responsible for many of the album’s visuals, including the cover. The band members are also currently part of a Calvin Klein jeans ad campaign and are touring in Europe.
