Mayhem takes the stage at the Vic Theatre on Nov.18, 2024. This is one of their many 40th-anniversary tour shows celebrating the 1984 album Lingus.
Norwegian band, Mayhem, quickly got a reputation as the fathers of the black metal scene. They were known for their controversial live performances and their harsh and gritty music.
Original members of the band include guitarist Øystein Aarseth, bassist Jørn Stubberud, and drummer Kjetil Manheim. There have been a plethora of past members.
Their music career was kick-started with the release of a demo and EP which was highly influential on their audience and even encouraged the string of Norwegian church burnings.
Since their formation in 1984, they have released 18 albums, 12 singles, and three EPs. Their most recent album, Daemonic Rites (Live) was released just last year in 2023.
The members of the band, in the past, have done many violent and harmful acts. They specialize in the shock factor.
This is not a band for the weak, the pure, or people that have aversions to gore.
Mayhem will be in Chicago for a 40th-anniversary show. They will be performing on Nov. 18, 2024, at the Vic Theatre. Tickets can be purchased now through AXS AXS.com.
