So, Dead Gaze managed to upgrade? Upgrade how? Well, the lucky low-fi outfit may just have managed to score some recording time at the million-dollar Sweet Tea recording studio in Oxford, Mississippi. Sort of a step up from a bedroom, at least. Upcoming album Brain Holiday is the result, and it continues to fill out, with a new song, “Stay, Don’t Say” out and streaming.
Go ahead, say “Stay, Don’t Say” about 10 times fast, we’ll wait. See? Not so easy. Which may be why Dead Gaze keeps things so nice and down-tempo on the song. Previously released song “Rowdy Jungle” blew doors down, “Stay, Don’t Say” knocks politely. Not too surprising, as the song’s meant to be a showcase of Dead Gaze’s softer side.
Anticipation continues to build for Brain Holiday, the band’s first proper album, not counting the release of an eponymous compilation earlier this year. New digs may have been just what the doctor orders, as Brain Holiday seems to be right on point thus far.
