Album brings soul shaking noise
Japanese metal band Sable Hills are know for their mind blowing music and earlier this month, they released the album, Odyssey. What is insanely great about this record is how each track is filled with vein jolting instrumentation and a vocal performance that can cause some listeners to head bang while the music is blaring from their speakers. The havoc on Odyssey brings a strong kick, the madness lingering inside the band’s heart and soul.
Opening things up is “The Eye,” with a wonderful goth style guitar that creates melodies strong enough to shake the souls of those who are listening. “The Eye” rolls into a heavy metalcore influenced vibe as the tune continues on with layered urgent melodies.
Another great ditty is “Battle Cry.” Bringing even more mild tempo guitar riffs that roll out at very bold points, on playful melodies, that intend to stick after the musical havoc ends. “Battle Cry” demonstrates how strong Sable Hills are through their sizzling musical performance.
“Anthem” is a rather interesting number, the experimental music brings with it a heavy flow of the band’s modern vibes. While listening, the drum and guitar playing is resonant toward that of a more hard rock style, while the vocal performance dazzles the mind with tones that match the strong topic.
The closing track on Odyssey is “Tokyo.” In this composition the band try to add more traditional elements of Japanese culture into the music, showcasing an even more unique technique, resulting in more insanity and maddening bruising instrumentation. “Tokyo” brings a nice change of pace, that gives hope to hearing more of this style of music in the future.
For those who are craving to hear ear bleeding modern metal, Odyssey can satisfy those desires. Sable Hills bring their passion and energy on each track. Surely the band does have a bright future in metal music.
