In a move that accentuates the free-willed nature of the band Yacht, the electropop group has released “Party at The NSA”, in protest of the surveillance the National Security Agency is enforcing on the Internet.
Comedian Marc Maron, a leading digital rights advocate, plays guitar on the song, which can be streamed for free or downloaded with a pay-as-you-want donation at http://partyatthensa.com/. Yacht is then donating 100 percent of the proceeds to Electronic Frontier Foundation, and the nonprofit’s fight against the NSA.
The band has said this about the movement:
We live much of our lives online; we should be outraged by the extent of the NSA’s domestic spying programs. Instead, we are sinking into a dangerous indifference. Insidious forces are at work. Help us reverse the entropy.
