Yoko Ono’s Plastic Ono Band has announced a brand new full-length album hauntingly titled Take Me to the Land of Hell. It will be released on Chimera Music on September 17.
The album will arrive following a shocking and downright amazing bout of boundless creative output from Ono in the past few months; not only did she celebrate her milestone eightieth birthday recently, she was the curator of the prestigious Meltdown Festival in London. In her ninth decade of life, Ono continues to be an inspiration.
The album was produced in New York City by Ono, Yuka Honda, and Ono’s son Sean Lennon, who formed Chimera Music with girlfriend Charlotte Kemp Muhl. The Plastic Ono Band is made up of not only Ono herself, but also members Cornelius and Cibo Matto. Significant features on the album include tUnEyArDs, Questlove, Nels Kline, and Andrew Wyatt.
“Moonbeams,” the opening track off the album, was premiered live at Meltdown 2013.
