Boris, a legendary Japanese experimental rock band will embark on a US Residency tour playing two nights in select cities. The first night will be a set of their all-time classics, with songs never before played in the US. The second night’s performance will feature their 2000 cult classic album, Flood, along with a noise/drone set. A new special release will be available at these shows, and these shows only.
Boris hit the Tokyo scene in the early ’90s as a side project for each of it’s four members. Grunge, noise, and experimental music was ripe in popularity in Japan. 1996 saw the first full-length, Absolutego, and a consistently frequent slew of releases followed through Flood (2000), to another breakthrough album Pink in 2006, and up to their latest album, Praparat, to be released this year. Collaborative recordings, special releases, and varying labels helped Boris enter the underground scene internationally. A most notable collaborative friendship was established with Merzbow, a Dada-influenced junk-art-aesthetic noise musician and avant-garde art novelist among other things.
