More interesting collaboration news today! Dean Ween (real name: Mickey Melchiondo) is shooting a pilot for quirky comedy that combines his great loves – fishing and music.
As Antiquiet notes, Les Claypool will be joining him on the show each week as they fish in different locations with celebrity guests.
If you were skeptical, it’s worth noting that Matt Parker and Trey Stone (South Park creators) will be producing the show. Melchiondo also notes that the ultimate goal for this show is
to get the program on after Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations or Tosh .O. [It is] a fishing show that you do not have to be into fishing to enjoy.
Melchiondo and Claypool are planning on doing the soundtrack to the show as well.
Dean has certainly been busy lately. Following the recent breakup of Ween, he unsuccessfully tried to reconcile with Gene Ween, worked on a solo album with Josh Homme, and hosted a benefit concert for Hurricane Sandy.
No announcements yet about when (or where) this show will air. If you just can’t wait, Dean Ween is accepting reservations for you to join him fishing later this year.
