Americana artist Shakey Graves, also known as Alejandro Rose-Garcia, announced his “Movie of the Week” Tour last week. The tour will kick off on September 21 in Phoenix, AZ and will stop in Chicago on November 17.
Shakey Graves got his start as an actor with featured roles in Friday Night Lights and Spy Kids before pivoting to focus on music. The artist’s stage name was inspired by hearing a stranger ramble about “spooky wagons” at a music festival in 2007, and has stuck for his entire career. As a one-man band, Shakey Graves released his first EP in 2011, and released his first album with Dualtone Records in 2014.
The artist is known for combining blues, folk, country, and rock into a perfect Americana blend. In his decade-spanning career, he has collaborated with artists ranging from Esme Patterson to Trixie Mattel. He has received accolades like Best Emerging Artist at the 2015 Americana Music Awards and even has a day named after him in his hometown of Austin, TX.
This year, on his very own day, Shakey Graves released Deadstock- A Shakey Graves Day Anthology. The EP is a collection of unreleased music, much to fans’ delight. Along with a tour announcement, the singer also released two versions of his single “Ready or Not” this week, which he described as a “bitter sweet gooey” duet on Instagram.
