Today rock band Thirty Seconds To Mars have announced their sixth studio album It’s The End Of The World But It’s A Beautiful Day will be released this September. Five years following the release of the band’s chart-topping album, America, Thirty Seconds To Mars are releasing music people have never heard before.
Throughout their career Thirty Seconds To Mars have continued to push themselves to grow musically and their new focus is being simple and concise, with no songs longer than three-and-a-half minutes and an emphasis on Jared’s Leto’s strong vocal style.
In light on the happy news, Thirty Seconds To Mars have also released the single “Stuck,” which is accompanied by a music video that is a celebration of the human form, minimalist design, high fashion, art and dance. Filled with energy, it focuses on an incredibly unique cast of characters who interpret the song with movement, metaphor and action.
In the press release Leto describes the meaning behind the latest tune.
“The video for STUCK, our first new song in five years, is a love letter to some of my favorite photographers. Artists who made a very deep impact on me like Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Robert Mapplethorpe, Diane Arbus, Herb Ritts and more. Artists whose work changed the way I saw things and showed me new possibilities at every turn.”
The artist adds: “I wrote it from the perspective of a narrator who simply can’t help himself from plunging headfirst into what will likely be a doomed romance. (“The more I drift, the closer I get to you / She’s a ghost, and the truth it’s impossible / But I love her lies.”) It’s about knowing you need to get out but simply being unable to, whether that’s from fear or comfort or confusion, hence being ‘Stuck’.”
Later this month Thirty Seconds To Mars will be taking the main stage at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and in August, the band will be making their return to Lollapalooza Festival for the first time since 2006.
The performance will mark the third time overall the band has taken the stage at Lollapalooza. To continue on their festival streak, Thirty Seconds To Mars will also be playing at the sold-out When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas in October, with more festival dates to be announced shortly.
