The death metal trail-blazers, The Black Dahlia Murder, will be stopping in Austin, Texas on May 3rd for their The Derminous Remnant Tour 2023! They will be performing at The Mohawk Austin with Terror, Frozen Soul, Fuming Mouth and Phobophilic. On January 20th, the band announced their brand new tour and it includes 4 Texas stops all taking place next week!
The Black Dahlia Murder was founded in Michigan in 2001 and has released 9 studio albums since 2005. The current 2023 members include Brian Eschbach with lead vocals, Max Lavelle on bass, Alan Cassidy on the drums and Brandon Ellis and Ryan Knight on guitars. Out of all the nine albums they’ve released, eight of them have gone on to chart on the Billboard U.S. 200’s list. Deflorate debuted at number #43 on the Billboard’s 200 chart and the 8th album, Nightbringers charted at #35. Their 7th album, Abysmal, was talked about by previous lead singer, Trevor Strnad, as being their more natural and raw sounding album then all previous albums before. The band has two DVDs published titled Majesty and Fool ‘Em All. Majesty includes a documentary about the band’s previous 8 years and live footage from the Summer Slaughter tour that they headlined in 2008. It also includes footage from their performances in 2008 that supported Children of Bodom and all of their music videos. Their most recent album, Verminous, was released on April 17th, 2020.
Just under a year ago, shocking and heartbreaking news hit the public. On May 11th, 2022, the band announced via social media that founding lead singer and frontman, Trevor Strnad, had passed away at the age of 41. In their Instagram caption, the band writes how Strnad was a “walking encyclopedia of all things music” and “was loved by all that met him.” They also state that it was his life to perform to all those who came to watch. The post included the National Suicide Prevention Hotline for anyone who needs it. His death made a huge impact on the band and fans alike. The comments were flooded with heartbroken fans and how Strnad had impacted their life in a positive way. On October 28th, 2022, the band held a tribute concert at Saint Andrew’s Hall in Michigan in Strnad’s honor. Brian Eschbach stepped down from guitarist to take on the role as the new lead vocalist. After hearing the news about Strnad, Ryan Knight rejoined the band after 8 years to take Eschbach’s place as the rhythm guitarist.
This will be The Black Dahlia Murder’s first tour since the loss of Trevor Strnad. The death metal band is excited to live on Strnad’s memory and perform in the best way they know how. The shows will be filled with a lively crowd, melodic death metal music, and hit songs including “Funeral Thirst,” “Nightbringers” and “What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse.” Head on down to The Mohawk Austin on May 3rd and catch an exhilarating lineup hit the stage!
