They first released their debut full length album, An Awesome Wave. While it got mixed reviews here in the US, the record was well received in England. In November they beat out an impressive list of other up-and-coming British acts for the highly coveted Mercury Prize. Other nominees included Michael Kiwanuka, Django Django, and Jessie Ware for the years best album from an Irish or British musical act. To round out the year, Alt-J have just recently announced their return to the United States for a headlining tour!
