Indie rock band that I fell in love with in a Starbucks one time in SF comes to SF and Santa Cruz
No Vacation is honestly one of my favorite indie rock bands period. Why? Yam Yam that’s why. Seriously. Their most popular song on Spotify right now at 74 MILLION plays is also the only reason why I give any respect and thought to the group. Honestly that song, Yam Yam, is so darn good that I have not cared to even really explore their discography at all. I just don’t care because that one song is just that good. I’m pretty content so far not to care about the band but rather just the song! I would seriously and immensely enjoy the stuffing out of the show if they literally spent an hour just playing that song on repeat non stop! Non-stop! Maybe add some twists and turns here and there and be creative I don’t know but man that song is dope! But what about the band? Nothing that’s what. A good band is only defined by their music, not their personas. I Just want to hear good sounding music. Man this song has been out for years now but you might already know that. I don’t know. Maybe I should make my own No Vacation tribute band and call it Yam Yam or The Yam Yams or Vacay and The Yam Yams. Just watch it do better than the actual band itself! LAUGH OUT LOUD! Just kidding. I am a jokester. A jester of sorts! An agent of chaos.
Now concerning the venue! The Catalyst Atrium is located in Santa Cruz! Good times man good times! I remember there is this ice cream parlor that hopefully is still there. Penny Ice Creamery? I don’t quite remember. Good memories. They also play in the Noise Pop 30 festival the following day on February 20th at 5pm. They must be real soldiers slamming themselves with a 5 o’clock show then immediately after that they have to attend an appearance somewhere else in San Francisco for an 8 o’clock showing at The Chapel! Wow! I don’t know if I could do that! Luckily they get a week break and then on the 26th they have another gig to make at Harlow’s in Sacramento! They will be traveling with opening act Wabie. Don’t know, don’t care, as per usual.
