Last night, Billboard reported that Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine stated that the band has no plans to record a new album. However, this isn’t the first time Morello has made comments of this nature.
Since July, mxdwn has been aware of Morello’s sentiments. Morello has been adamant for a while that no new album is in the works.
Further, what is being reported of Morello’s comments are in direct contradiction to comments that the other band members have made. As mxdwn reported in August, Tim Commerford, Rage’s bassist, noted that there is new material in the works. Commerford notes about Rage’s writing style:
We were jamming, and Zach was throwing freestyles. That’s how we write music. To me that’s exciting.
Moreover, Rage frontman Zach de la Rocha also revealed to Chilean newspaper, La Tercera, that a new album is in the works.
Given all the contradictory statements as of late, nothing has been confirmed. Hopefully an official statement will soon be released for all those Rage fans.
