Chicago artist Neal Francis has scheduled two spring concerts to look forward to in 2023. The performances will both take place at Thalia Hall in Pilsen. Get ready for a show by the city’s own on dates Mar. 24 and 25, as he added a second show due to high demand. Presented by 93XRT, Francis is set to play with special guests Valebol on Friday and Zella Day the next night.
Neal Francis grew up surrounded by the Chicago music scene, and after a brief relocation in adulthood he found a home once again in the Windy City. For over a year, Francis resided in what he deems “a possibly haunted church in Chicago.” The artist details his experience writing and recording inside the church in his website’s bio page. As a result of this unexpected year, Francis published In Plain Sight as his most recent record in 2021. The sophomore studio album features songs full of honesty and imagination, such as opening track “Alameda Apartments” and the Greek myth-inspired tune “Prometheus.” Guitarist Kellen Boersma, bassist Mike Starr and drummer Collin O’Brien accompany Francis throughout the LP, with Francis acting as singer, songwriter and pianist. Out next is an EP titled Sentimental Garbage, which fans can pre-order here. Sentimental Garbage is scheduled to drop Nov. 18, 2022.
