Icon Grace Jones is set to return to The Hollywood Bowl for a special performance during the 89.9 KCRW’s Festival. The disco star will be accompanied by CHVRCHES, Charlotte Adigery and Bolis Pupul on Sunday, September 25th.
The 1980s pop diva, Grace Jones, is known for her greatest hits such as “Slave to Rhythm,” “Love is the Drug,” and “Pull Up to the Bumper.” Jones first rose to fame with her modeling career, appearing on the covers of Vogue and Elle. In the later 70s, Jones kicked off her music career, quickly booming in New York City’s disco scene. Jones then moved to a different genre, focusing on pop and post-punk styles. At the same time, Jones also pursued an acting career, landing roles in Conan the Destroyer and the James Bond movie A View to a Kill. In 2015, Jones appeared in the Gorillaz album Humanz. This year, she’s set to be the curator for the 27th edition of the Meltdown Festival and return to the stage for live performance.
The Scottish synth-pop band, CHVRCHES, are most recognized for their electronica and indie pop sound. Initially, the group was formed simply to share their music, but due to the immense support they received for their first single “Lies” the band embarked on their official music debut with live performances. In 2013, the band made its North American debut at the South by Southwest festival in Austin. In 2021, the band released their fourth studio album, Screen Violence.
