Venezuelan musician, singer, producer and rapper Arca (who goes by she/they pronouns) has returned to share a her new song, “Cayó” and its video. In December 2021, they digitally released KICK ii, KicK iii (which features “Electra Rex”) kick iii and kiCK iiiii, as well as the June 2020 release of KiCk i, Arca has shared this new single as part of the KICK series. The song originally premiered on their DIVA_EXPERIMENTAL FM Twitch transmission in early 2020. Tim Hecker provides additional production on “Cayó”, and the music video is directed by Albert Moya.
On her latest single, Arca explains, “It’s about exploring self states, nonbinary modes of relating of that which is ‘other’, creating new intersectional ways of mediating identity through exploring sensuality and heightened communion with the sensual embodiment of self.” The video takes viewers to another world, filled with sensuality and amazing aesthetics. Arca has also announced details of the physical release of all five albums from the KICK series, which are currently available to pre-order on vinyl and CD, with an official release set for May 20. A limited number of KICK boxsets will be available exclusively via the Arca webstore, XL webstore and Bleep, with the boxset edition including exclusive alternate artwork for KiCk i.
Arca also announces MUTANT, a digital webstore that represents the product division of Arca. MUTANT involves a wide array of categories: clothing, technology and art. The initial launch will feature legacy graphics, Arca artworks and album-related imagery–all available for preorder over a one month selling window. Future releases will feature full-look apparel and accessories, including footwear, underwear and jewelry.
