Beats Electronics, the popular headphone manufacturer founded by HTC, Dr. Dre and Interscope Records Chairman Jimmy Iovine, has acquired music subscription service MOG. This merger is believed to be the start of a new service between the two companies.
Beats is best known for creating the Dr. Dre headphones and MOG is a Berkeley, CA based paid music subscription service with producer Rick Rubin reportedly a member of the Board of Directors.
Due to tight competition with other subscription services such as Spotify, it is believed that Beats has plans of its own to integrate their existing product with MOG’s music services.
