In the second edition of this series, we invited our photographer Boston Schulz to share her favorite five images, shot on assignment for us. Scroll through and enjoy Boston’s top photographs.
Ghost at The Wiltern: November 2016
Ghost was the first ‘big name’ show that I got to photograph through mxdwn, and to say that I was excited is the understatement of my life. I was so hyped to be there as a fan and a photographer. Their theatrical set is a photographer’s dream, and I’m still obsessed with these photos, even all these years later.
Joe Perry & Friends at The Roxy: January 2018
This Joe Perry & Friends concert was INSANE. The room didn’t have a photo pit, so I got there early and I was able to be front row and stay there the whole night. I got up close and personal to some huge names: Johnny Depp, Slash, Robin Zander, Joe Perry himself, and too many more to name. This show started my 2018 off with a bang and is a night I’ll never forget.
Tom Petty at KAABOO Del Mar: September 2017
TOM PETTY! I cried so many (happy) tears at this show. As a huge Tom Petty fan, this was such an honor to be shooting his set. He’s such a great performer, and you could really tell how much he enjoyed performing and being in front of his fans. Sadly, he passed a few weeks after this performance, and I’m just so blessed that I was able to check this show off my bucket list.
Carly Rae Jepsen at The Grove Anaheim: March 2016
I got to shoot Carly Rae Jepsen early in my career, and I was blown away. She is so much more than the “Call Me Maybe” singer, and her set really blew me away. This show stands out to me as the first one where I thought to myself, in the photo pit, that I nailed the shot. This was that shot, and all these years later, I still love it.
Aubrie Sellers at Stagecoach: May 2019
This picture of Aubrie Sellers from Stagecoach took my breath away. Not only does she look so stunning, but the highlights on her hair, golden! I have only fond memories of photographing Stagecoach, and to top it off, being able to capture these little, quiet moments like this one really makes me smile.
