Godspeed You! Black Emperor recently announced a 2022 world tour in support of their new album G_d’s Pee AT STATE’S END! The dates will take the band across the United Kingdom and Europe in January and February before GY!BE head across North America for a run of dates between February and May. They’ll be stopping at The Beslaco in Los Angeles on March 3, 2022.
The Canadian experimental music collective formed in ’94 by founding members by Efrim Menuck (guitar), Mike Moya (guitar), and Mauro Pezzente (bass), who slowly grew their collective with a more permanent nine-member line-up by late 1998, which included Aidan Girt and Bruce Cawdron on drums, Thierry Amar and Mauro on basses, Efrim, Dave Bryant and Roger Tellier-Craig on guitars, and Norsola Johnson and Sophie Trudeau on cello and violin respectively. They toured extensively until the group disbanded in 2003. They got back together in 2010 and have released four albums together since then, with their most recent release being G_d’s Pee at State’s End! in April 2021 via Constellation Records. The group amassed a significant cult following with their minimal experimental productions. Their live performance is highly involved with at least nine or more performers and a film loop projectionist, an important visual aspect of the group’s live show.
