The Flaming Lips have finally revealed the details of their collaboration album set for a Record Store Day release. “The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends” features Ke$ha, Bon Iver, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Neon Indian, Chris Martin of Coldplay, Yoko Ono and many more.
Throughout 2011 we have seen The Flaming Lips at their weirdest. They released an EP inside of a gummy-fetus, a 24 hour song inside of a human skull, played Dark Side Of The Moon in its entirety, freaked out with Yoko Ono on New Years, played a small house show on Halloween and have collaborated with seemingly everyone. We have reports of The Lips working with Death Cab For Cutie, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Lightning Bolt, Neon Indian, Ke$ha, and Bon Iver and Erykah Badu. After what seems like years The Flaming Lips have announced the official track listing for their collaborative album.
The album titled “The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends” will be a limited release exclusively on Record Store Day. It has been pressed on high quality multi colored vinyl discs. No two discs will look exactly alike. Once these have sold out it will not be rereleased. It is safe to say this is the most anticipated release for Record Store Day.
