As reported by Blabbermouth, Scott Weiland joined Velvet Revolver on January 12 for a four song performance during “Love You Madly: A Concert for John O’Brien” at West Hollywood’s House of Blues. The band covered classics like Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here” in memory of the award-winning ASCAP composer, who was found dead in his hotel room last August. When Velvet guitarist Dave Kushner found out his best friend O’brien had passed away, he decided to bring the group back together to honor him and raise money for his family. Despite splitting on unfriendly terms from the band four years ago, Weiland told Classic Rock Magazine last year that, “we patched things up and we get along. I see them every now and again, we text each other. And you know, we can never say never. Who knows, maybe we’ll do some shows some time.”
As to whether this could lead to more Velvet reunions in the future, Kushner told Rolling Stone, “we haven’t played together in four years, and so we’re really just like, ‘Let’s see how this goes.”
The band’s setlist was as follows:
01. Sucker Train Blues
02. She Builds Quick Machines
03. Slither
04. Wish You Were Here (PINK FLOYD cover)
