Archers Of Loaf released “Talking Over Talk,” the band’s second single since their reunion earlier this year. The release comes after February’s drop of “Raleigh Days,” which had been the band’s first new single since 1998. “Talking Over Talk” will be released as a physical copy on June 26 along with B-side “Cruel Reminder.”
“Talk Over Talk” includes slinking guitars, the lyrics and instruments twisting around each other, incorporating slight blues into their rock sound. Eric Bachmann’s smooth voice weaves around the guitar riffs, creating a late-90s rock feel. The song discusses feeling alone while everyone being the same in lyrics such as in the chorus with lines, “Everybody moves along the same, you study the same.”
The group also announced a concert film on YouTube, What Did You Expect? The Archers of Loaf Live at the Cat’s Cradle, which will remain for free on YouTube until Sunday, June 14. The band also released an accompanying Q&A for the film.
Archers Of Loaf formed in Chapel Hill, North Carolina back in 1991, breaking up in 1998. They reunited briefly in 2011 for a reunion tour, coinciding with the reissue of their four studio albums. In late-February, the band announced they would again be reuniting to tour this spring, but their plans have been put on hold due to the current coronavirus pandemic.
