Death Cab For Cutie released a music video in September for “Stay Young, Go Dancing”, from Codes and Keys (Atlantic, 2011). Check out the video after the jump:
“Stay Young, Go Dancing” chronicles the life of two lovers who dance through their love life in rewind, beginning with front man Ben Gibbard strumming his acoustic on a weathered, ivy-grown porch. An old couple dances listlessly in their kitchen, before stepping outside their door and warping into a party attended as a young couple. Eventually the couple frolics through time to carefree youths playing tag, ending as the sun sets on Gibbard strumming away in a rustic wooden barn.
“I liked the idea of moving backwards,” Gibbard said in an interview with Spinner. “In the beginning you see this couple who are in their 70s, and throughout the video they move through these corridors and become younger and younger and I think it’s a rather touching way to show these two people.”
Death Cab For Cutie are currently in the midst of a fall tour which began in September and continues through November, ending at a sold out show in Portland, Oregon at the Crystal Ballroom.
