English post-punk rockers The Horrors have released a music video for “I Can See Right Through You”. It is the second single from their self-produced album Skying (XL). Check out the video after the jump:
The trippy video was directed by White Rabbit and features mirrored images of lead singer Faris Badwan and band singing as colorful lasers of light cut through a smokey kaliedescopic background. The scenery changes from blank space to clouds, the images and features of the band member’s faces sometimes melting together to form a face that could only belong to an inter-dimensional being as the hypnotic drums pound a steady beat. A guitar with a thick, heavy coat of distortion chugs the chromatic verse, before breaking into an organ synth-laced chorus which, coupled with the psychedelic landscape, gives the song an epic quality.
“I Can’t See Through You”, and Skying in general, is certainly a far cry from The Horrors’ previous endeavors, but the metamorphosis has generated decent reviews in magazines such as Nylon, which hailed it as “their best and most unambiguously melodic” album. The band also recently finished up a successful North American tour at the beginning of the month.
