Ahead of their headlining international tour in support of the new album, Thin Minds, Canadian indie rockers Wolf Parade released their first single, “Julia Take Your Man Home,” a portrait of a man who is … well, just the worst.
With catchy riffs, plenty of synth, and lead singer Spencer Krug’s hypnotic vocals, the song describes a that obnoxious person at the bar we’ve all seen, or honestly been at one point or 12. More importantly, the song is a plea with Julia to find someone better than that. In a recent news release, Kruger described the song as a “caricature of male stupidity.”
“I’m singing about some other, worse version of myself. It’s not actually me.” Krug says. “I’ve never carved shapes that look like dicks into anything.”
Thin Minds is Wolf Parade’s first full-length album since 2017’s Cry Cry Cry and was produced by John Goodmanson at Risque Disque, mixed by Goodmanson at Bogroll Studios and mastered by Noah Mintz. The album is slated to be released on January 24th via Subpop and will feature ten tracks.
Wolf Parade kicks off their international tour January 27th in Portland, Oregon at Crystal Ballroom and culminates March 15th in Dublin, Ireland at The Button Factory. Supporting artists include Land of Talk (January 27th-February 11th), Sub Pop/Royal Mountain label mates Jo Passed (February 12th-24th), and Joensuu 1685 (March 2nd-15th). Tickets for these shows are on sale now.
