The regal and radiantly beautiful English singer/songwriter/model Dua Lipa just recently released a live video for her infectious dance single “Don’t Start Now (Live in LA, 2019)” this past Friday, January 10. According to a press release, the live video for “Don’t Start Now” was “Directed by Daniel Carberry (Justin Bieber, Bruno Mars, Deadmau5), the video sees Dua perform a divine slice of pulsing roller disco with a live 19 piece band.” Along with a 6-track remix EP, Lipa is set to release her sophomore studio album, Future Nostalgia, slated for an early 2020 release, via Warner Records, a follow up to her smash hit eponymous debut album 2017’s Dua Lipa.
The newly released video opens up with a momentous vibrantly pulsating build up that attributes from the percussion of the drums heightened to funky results. The various components that are essential to the build up from the track’s intro from various dancers, rollerbladers and the 19 piece band play a crucial role even before Lipa elegantly walks into the room from the outside streets. The track’s throwback, sticky bubblegum pop/disco-dance vibes are at full force when Lipa begins to sing. The party officially commences at this point and the audience is uncontrollably thrown into an infectious dance frenzy.
Ever since her inception into the music industry she’s taken the pop scene by storm, breaking records on such streaming platforms as Spotify and YouTube. As previously noted in the aforementioned press release Lipa’s breakthrough debut album, “… is officially the most streamed album by a female artist in Spotify history. The video for her break out hit ‘New Rules’ made her the youngest female solo artist to reach one billion views on YouTube, and she made BRIT Award history in 2018 by becoming the first female artist to pick up five nominations, with two wins for British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Artist.” As for her more recent accolades the press release furthers that, “In 2019, she received two Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording for ‘Electricity,’ her collaboration with Silk City. This summer, Dua will embark on a 24 date UK and Europe tour, including 2 nights at the O2 arena.”
