Lam of God’s guitarist Mark Morton has announced a new five-song solo EP titled Ether, which will be released via Rise Records! next Jaunary. The project’s first single “All I Had To Lose,” featuring Mark Morales will be released on January 10.
This new project features a star-studded cast including Lizzy Hale (Halestorm), Howard Jones (Killswitch Engage, Light the Torch), John Carbone (Moon Tooth) and Morales (Sons of Texas), who is also a member of Morton’s live band. This new project will take a more stripped back tone, with more of a focus on acoustic guitars.
This project will follow up Morton’s project Anesthetic, which debuted earlier this year via Spinefarm Records/WPP Records. One of the tracks from the project, “Cross Off,” featured vocals from the late Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington. The new project is set to feature three original songs, and two covers
“I’m thrilled to announce the upcoming release of my new, five song EP, Ether, on Rise Records! Once again, I’ve had the great pleasure of working with some amazingly talented artists and friends to assemble this collection of tunes, all of which feature a strong acoustic guitar component,” Morton explained in a press release. “Inspired by the acoustic sets I had the opportunity to perform last spring and summer in support of Anesthetic, I began writing some new songs to reflect that more mellow vibe. ”
Morton was joined by Mark Lanegan and Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix for an acoustic performance at the Sonic Temple Festival earlier this year.
