HomeFeatures marv watson September 9th, 2011 - 7:24 PM In addition to our recent review of the LA Rising festival day in July, photographer Marv Watson has a few more shots to share from the day… Immortal Technique took to the stage with a whole entourage, yet the stage still looked empty. Try as he did to enliven the crowd..... ...there was no escaping the boredom created by his rambling set, as evinced by a member of his crew spending time DURING THE ACT on his phone. The crowd packed in tighter and deeper the longer the day went on. Lauryn Hill did little to bolster her reputation, though she did look good. During Rise Against's set, the crowd finally started to get into the mood, these being two of many circles to form. As the sun set on LA, the crowd got thicker and the sets got louder. The sun finally set on the black flags raised around the arena, and also on Rise Against, to make way for Muse. A somber, ethereal start to Muse's set. Matt Bellamy was at his prodigious, and self-loving, best. What everyone had been waiting all day to see; Zach De La Rocha steps on stage to make his point. Zach and Tom rocking out. One can see the intensity of this shot by the sweat flying off both men (and this was only the second song). Rage Against The Machine - all smiles for this happy family come the end of the night.
