Pop performer Lana Del Rey has brought out another guest during her Norman Fucking Rockwell tour, which has seen a slew of performers from Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard, to Joan Baez in recent months. Last night the artist brought out singer-songwriter Nikki Lane, for a performance of Lane’s “Look Away,” during a concert at the Orpheum Theatre in Omaha, Nebraska last night.
“Look Away,” originally appeared on Lane’s 2011 debut album Walk Of Shame. Both of the artists performed a duet without a backing band, with Lane’s guitar playing serving as the only live instrumental for this cover performance.
During her performance with Gibbard earlier this year, Lana Del Rey performed a cover of Death Cab for Cutie’s classic “I Will Follow You Into The Dark,” from the band’s 2005 album Plans. Her performance with Baez occurred in Berkeley, California, where they performed a cover of the Bob Dylan classic “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright.” Earlier in the year she also performed alongside Leonard Cohen’s son Adam Cohen, to cover his father’s classic “Chelsea Hotel No. 2” at Jones Beach Theater.
One of Lana Del Rey’s more prominent covers this year was her interpretation of the Joni Mitchell track “For Free,” which originally appeared on Mitchell’s 1970 album release Ladies Of The Canyon. The singer-songwriter performed this cover during a performance in Seattle, Washington, and alongside fellow performers Zella Day and Weyes Blood during a small jam session which was shared to Instagram.
