In two days, the latest (and 24th) installment in the beloved car racing game Need For Speed will be released. Called Need for Speed Heat, it takes place in an open world called Palm City, which of course is a fictionalized version of Miami, FL. To go along with the tropical themed gameplay, acclaimed composer Pedro Bromfman (Narcos) has created a pulsating, vibrant score and today we’re premiering one of its tracks, “Cop Trouble.”
“Cop Trouble” opens with vibrant percussion that exudes a sinister tropicalia vibe, with the beats-per-minute increasing as each second goes by. It’s the perfect soundtrack for churning through the humid streets of Palm City or across an expansive semi-tropical wilderness. The game allows the player to race in both sanctioned races, which earn them cash, as well as illegal street races, which earn them reputation points. From the title alone, it’s clear which races “Cop Trouble” is intended for.
“Composing the music for Need For Speed has been an amazing experience,” said Bromfman. “I remember playing the game as a kid and having my music as an integral part of the franchise is a true honor.”
Need For Speed Heat was created by EA and Ghost Games. It’s available for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 8, 2019. In addition to Bromfman’s original score, the game includes a soundtrack featuring the likes of Bomba Estereo and Sofi Tukker, Kendrick Lamar, Diplo, Toro y Moi and more.
