UK-based downtempo outfit Zero 7 shared a brand new single “Swimmers” with its accompanying music video via Make Records/Platoon. Featuring Jem Cooke, “Swimmers” is a fitting follow-up to Zero 7’s latest single “Aurora” with José González.
“Swimmers” carried a collaboration with British singer Jem Cooke. “We’re excited to have collaborated on this latest track with our new friend Jem Cooke on vocals,” Zero 7 expressed their joy on the special project.
After inviting several of their debut’s guest vocalists, the band continued to meld ambient style, pop-influenced electronica and easy-going soul and folk, creating a warm and inviting sound. Standing on the shoulders of a gloomy music video, the new single channels a feeling of easiness. The call of ceasing resistance of fear can be found in the lyrics of “surrender to your love, surrender to your heart, surrender.” “Swimmers” is another beautifully crafted sharing from Zero 7. Formed in 1997, Zero 7 consists of producers Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker. The band shared a handful of remixes at the very first stage of their career. Their first release of EP 1 dated back to 1999, and their first full-length album, Simple Things, came out in 2001. The sophomore effort When It Falls and follow-up albums, The Garden and Yeah Ghost, molded the downtempo characteristics in their music statue.
A re-issue of Zero 7’s back catalogue is available now. The band previously re-released their 2004 album, When It Falls, as a deluxe heavyweight vinyl package.
