As much as California is a place to celebrate the rising stars, some part of it still clings to its old heritage. To witness this one need look no further than the Sunset Strip where venues like the Roxy and The Viper Room have existed as tributes to rock legends for nearly fifty years. This reverence has been paid back in kind to the great state by the same artists enshrined, but no song more accurately captures the spirit of California than the Eagles legendary track “Hotel California.”

The Eagles, for those who don’t know, The Eagles are often regarded as one of the greatest rock bands from the ‘70s, which is often regarded as the greatest decade of rock music. Going back and listening to their albums, it’s hard to disagree. With tracks like “Take It Easy” and “Hotel California” scattered across nearly every single one of their albums, it’s no wonder that they are often mentioned near The Rolling Stones, Queen, and Led Zeppelin. 

Despite their age, and the loss of member Glenn Frey, the band has received rave reviews for all of their latest shows. Praise is often heaped at the feet of front-man Don Henley, whose voice remains as powerful as ever, perfectly fitting into the established style of the five piece band.

There’s no telling how many tours the Eagles have left in them, for all we know this could be the last one. On the off chance it is, who could turn down a chance to see them, still in the peak of their powers, play the most iconic song about California in one of the state’s most legendary venues?
