The song by Chance the Rapper, “We Go High” begins with the faint sounds of a man shouting, “We love you, God” on repeat and in rap form. Chance comes through after about 20 seconds, rapping in a low speed, with clarity until the beat breaks. Later Chance is powerful, dropping lyrics, “But he go high (We love you, God) and we go high, they go low, and we go higher, higher.” Chance emphasizes “higher, higher” with a high pitch before the song continues in various verses.
The video, “We Go High” was directed by Elijah Alvarado and is featured on Chance’s Instagram. The video shows a woman leaving him in the beginning of the video and Chance sitting lonely style in a night club as rain falls down on him. The theme of the song seems to be how Chance’s relationship with God is solid and this song shows his reverence and dedication to him. The verses stay in the same vein and the beat and lyrics don’t fluctuate too drastically. The emphasis is more on the message, “Lord bless my lineage, let me be the skinniest. Let me get some time with him. Let him know who Kenny is. Children born in one’s youth are like arrows in the hands of a warrior.” There is much meaning in Chance’s lyrics and rap verses.

Chance The Rapper – We Go High The Big Tour starts Jan 2020 Tix in bio! Dir: Elijah Alvarado
Chance’s album, The Big Day came out in July, following his 2016 mixtape Coloring Book. Chance performed “We Go High” on Good Morning America recently and is on tour in 2020 in support of The Big Day next year.
Recently, Chance made an announcement to fans in Los Angeles that he was canceling his LA show at the Forum due to a radius clause. He is performing at Rolling Loud Festival in Los Angeles. He took to Instagram to let his fans know so they could get refunded. “When I rescheduled my tour to spend more time with the family, I scheduled a date that isn’t actually doable… My L.A. show is now Rolling Loud Fest,” he said. Rolling Loud Hip-Hop festival will take place on December 14-15, 2019 at Banc of California stadium.
