Cold War Kids have announced a new trilogy of albums, which are each set to be eight tracks each, with the first: New Age Norms 1, being released on November 1 via CWKTWO/AWAL Records. In anticipation for the upcoming album, the band have released a new single entitled “Waiting For Your Love,” with the addition of several fall 2019 and winter 2020 tour dates.
“Waiting For Your Love,” is a nostalgic single, blending many elements of traditional indie music, blended with some funk and blues elements, with a bouncy bassline. The video shows the band in black and white back stage, being shot in a simple DIY aesthetic.
Earlier this year the band debuted two singles “Complainer,” and “4th Of July,” both produced by Lars Stalfors. The band explains that Kanye West’s Wyoming series was a major influence on their decision to release a trilogy of 8-song albums.
“Last summer we were on tour when Kanye was putting out his new records,” Cold War Kids’ Nathan Willett stated in a press release. “Pusha T, Kids See Ghosts, Nas, etc. They were eight songs each. It was so fun waking up to these brand new records and taking them in as a whole while hanging out, working out, talking shit, pushing each other. I knew then I wanted our next release to be three volumes – eight songs each. Without the baggage and hoopla of a full record/tour/concept – more spread out – loose and inspired. Make it feel like you are listening to music that was made the night before. New Age Norms is a phrase Maust had written on a tee shirt. It seemed to summarize this moment we are in as a band and as a country. More on that later…”
