Dia De Los Deftones Festival will return to San Diego, California on July 29 for its second edition, during which a diverse lineup of artists will perform at the venues. Lineup highlights: Chvrches, Gojira, JPEGMAFIA, Hum, Youth Code and Brutus. The band Deftones will also headline their self-titled festival.
The inaugural Dia de Los Deftones Festival was announced by the Grammy Award-winning alternative-rock band Deftones in last year. The band curated their first line-up, which featured Future, Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park), Rocket from the Crypt, H09909, Doja Cat, Voww and Vein.
The band was formed in 1988 by vocalist/guitarist Chino Moreno, guitarist Stephen Carpenter, keyboardist Frank Delgado, drummer Abe Cunningham and bassist Sergio Vega. Moreno says of the line-ups of this year’s festival; “In the second year of our festival, the exciting challenge for us is to make sure we once again give the fans a wonderful day of music that reflects the diversity of our own tastes. Each artist fits a different vertical of the music that we all love. There is truly something for everyone.”
This year Chvrches have been announced for several festivals in addition to Dia De Los Deftones Festival. The band will firstly celebrate the 10th celebration of Hopscotch Music Festival, then headline with Ms. Lauryn Hill in Sonoma Harvest Music Festival, lastly perform at the 6th annual All Things Go Fall Classic. Alternative-rock band Hum disbanded in 2000 and reformed a few times after, now is featuring vocalist Matt Talbott, drummer Bryan St. Pere, bass guitarist Jeff Dimpsey and lead guitarist Tim Lash. The newly reformed band is coming back to the stage with an upcoming album and a series of tour dates this year.
Gojira will join as special guests in Slipknot’s Knotfest Roadshow tour on all dates. JPEGMAFIA recently made a performance at the three-day Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago. He released a new music video for “The Who” as a part of the IHC 1NFINITY music video universe last month. The rapper started to gain more and more recognition since his latest album Veteran.
