Lacuna Coil, the Italian metal band, have released the first single for their upcoming 2019 album. The track, which is titled “Layers Of Time,” was released alongside a music video on Friday morning. Earlier this month the band announced their next album Black Anima will be released on October 11 via Century Media Records. Lacuna Coil, which has been around since the 1990s, is known for the dark imagery and tones in their music and this new track is no exception. Over two decades into their career, Lacuna Coil is still continually improving and experimenting as a group.
With eight studio albums released so far, Lacuna Coil has spent their careers perfecting their specific brand of gothic rock music. The metal band created their debut album In a Reverie in 1999 and have been consistently releasing new projects every few years ever since. The most recent studio album by the band was 2016’s Delirium. The album featured the song “The House of Shame,” and the title track “Delirium.” While that was the group’s most recent studio album, the band was hard at work on a live project that was released last year. The album, titled The 119 Show – Live In London was put out last November. The new “Layers Of Time” single is Lacuna Coil’s first new song since then.
The music video for “Layers Of Time” depicts the band performing the new track in what seems like an abandoned mansion. The almost Victorian style of the set and moody lighting are exactly what fans of the band have come to know and love. The video was directed by Roberto Cinardi, who has collaborated with the group for many of their videos in the past. Cinardi, who goes by the nickname SaKu, also directed a short film with Lacuna Coil and the band Dark Passengers in 2012. The video is a must see for fans of the group. Fans should also check out Lacuna Coil’s upcoming fall tour, which has the band performing dozens of shows across the world. The tour will begin in with a short run of festivals in Europe in August, before heading over to North America. The band is scheduled to perform across the United States and Canada until the end of October, when it will return to Europe to perform another leg of the tour lasting until the end of the year. The band will be performing with a variety of different groups throughout the tour. Until then, be sure to check out the new song “Layers Of Time,” and its music video, which can be found linked below.
