One of the most influential rock bands in history AC/DC is rumored to announce a string of world tour dates in the next week. It was reportedly confirmed that former vocalist Brian Johnson had rejoined the band and will support the trek as lead singer.
Information from close sources was leaked in April saying Brian Johnson will “absolutely” tour with AC/DC. Rumors circulating the return of Johnson and drummer Phil Rudd started last year after the two were spotted together at AC/DC’s longtime recording studio in Vancouver. In January, news of an upcoming AC/DC album was rumored by metal veterans Terrorizer, who ran into Johnson at an airport, Loudwire reports.
DJ Eddie Trunk said on his hard rock and heavy metal-themed radio: “I have sources that have told me that [AC/DC] are absolutely going to tour with Brian back again. I think it’s pretty much a done deal that AC/DC at the very least are going to release some sort of record and it’ll be some sort of tribute to Malcolm [Young] just like Back in Black was a tribute to Bon [Scott].”
Kansas radio station V100 confirmed, “Our sources are telling us that the band is set to announce a 2019-2020 World Tour next week on Wednesday. Another fun bit of info we’ve got for you is to answer all of your questions about Brian Johnson. Yes, he’s back with the band. It’s been rumored for months now that he’s been working with the band and we’ve been told those rumors are true. Brian has been working special in-ears made for his performances so that he can continue to perform without causing any more damage to his hearing than he already has. Our source is someone close with the AC/DC camp and we believe them to be a reliable source.”
After 2016’s Rock or Bust World Tour, AC/DC announced the departure of Johnson in order to avoid the risk of his complete loss of hearing. Axl Rose then took over for Johnson for part of an AC/DC tour in 2016. The legendary rock vocalist soon took to the stage to perform with Muse at Reading festival in 2017 with the help of new hearing technology. The forthcoming announcement of AC/DC’s world tour dates would be a piece of uplifting news for many rock and roll fans.
