ATTENTION MUSIC FANS: Mid-week slump? Crazy boss/bitchy coworkers/increasingly annoying significant other putting a toll on your energy levels? Prepare to be rejuvenated: High Voltage Magazine is putting on a show at the Mint tonight (Wednesday) featuring Hell&Lula, eli james and Toy Bombs! It’s guaranteed to boost your mood levels for the rest of the week until the much-desired weekend! I PROMISE YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!!
(Wow…can you tell I just watched an hour of infomercials? That sounds even more pathetic written out….I have a life, I swear. Ish.)
In all seriousness, this event seems like it’s gonna be awesome. Hell&Lula‘s unabashed contemporary-club-rock-80’s-New-Wave sound is a ridiculously infectious romp of anthems and riffs that’ll do worlds more for you than crack caffeine (and no comedown afterwards because you can continue to listen to tracks here! Or better yet, support all these artists and actually buy their music!)
Opening is one-man wonder eli james who drums, sings, and spins all while providing a visual treat via a custom light show that includes none other than his own drum kit (sounds trippy…in the best kind of way), as well as rockers Toy Bombs who’ve torn up the stage at events like SXSW and Sundance with an eclectic sound that’s as Spoon-esque as it is the Clash. (Seriously, they’re great. Been listening to their first album Feed the Wolves all day. Also, you get a free track just by joining their mailing list! Just go to their website and click “Free Song” in the top right corner. Whoo!!)
Sounds like it’s gonna be a kickass show, so DITCH THAT COFFEE AND GO GO GO!!!!!
(Yes, I just rhymed. Intentionally. Such a sophisticated one too. Infomercials are clearly doing nothing but benefiting my creative juices.)
Oh, and apparently Adams Williams Presents will be providing a light show. Icing on the cake, yessss……
