Thom Yorke is introspective than ever as he preparing to release a new project in a week. The English musician announced that his third studio album Anima will be released on June 27th exactly at 12:01 AM via XL Recordings across all streaming platforms. The physical releases of the album will be released later on July 19th.
Given the title’s name meaning an individual’s true inner self, it is clear that self-reflection will serve as a major theme on the upcoming project. The album will also be accompanied by a Thomas Anderson-directed “one-reeler” that shares the same title and set to feature three songs from the tracklist. To build even more anticipation, the ANIMA one-reeler will be made as a Netflix exclusive that will become available the same day as the album’s project. Watch the trailer for the Netflix short film below:
While many of the songs have already been debuted at various live performances, all of the songs are originals written by Yorke and produced by longtime producer Nigel Godrich. For those that are vinyl lovers or reminiscent of flipping through album covers and reading them front to back, vinyl releases are scheduled for July 19th.
This is the official tracklist for ANIMA:
- Traffic
- Last I Heard (… He Was Circling The Drain)
- Twist
- Dawn Chorus
- I Am A Very Rude Person
- Not The News
- The Axe
- Impossible Knots
- Runwayaway
Bonus Vinyl Track: (Ladies & Gentlemen, Thank You for Coming)
