Sir Paul McCartney will play the Dodger Stadium in Echo Park as part of his Freshen Up Tour this July, the series of shows that have been in motion since September 2018, will celebrate the release of his newest record Egypt Station (2019). The British singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and composer gained worldwide fame as the bass guitarist and vocalist for the Beatles. In 1970 McCartney was the first of the four; John Lennon, Ringo Starr and George Harrison, to seek a solo-career, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the second time thereafter, for his independent artistic achievements.
As a high-priest of the counter-culture, iconic not only through his contribution to the band that became the most influential in musical history, but the swirling conspiracies that have surrounded him since 1966 (following his apparent ‘secret death’). For nearly half a century McCartney has been working as a solo-artist, creating a catalogue of music and lyrics that continues, as the music of the Beatles, to inspire and change lives.
The tour promises a setlist including performances of new and old material, Egypt Station (2019) his first LP in five years will take the audience back to the psychedelic 60s – transitioning into earlier hits of McCartney’s solo-career including but not limited to tracks that resonate with this new release, from his 1971 album RAM and beyond into the classic Beatles tracks that he wrote in collaboration with Lennon. The Dodger Stadium, in its stylist allegiance to Grecian amphitheaters will provide a memorable context for the already unforgettable voice and instrumentals of McCartney.
