Lukas Nelson and Promise Of The Real has released a new single called ” Turn Off the News (Build a Garden).” According to Rolling Stone, the band previewed the song while opening up for The Who in Nashville, and have now released the full studio version. The song also features Sheryl Crow in the background and encourages people to be more active in their communities instead of sitting on electronic devices.
Nelson released a statement about the track saying, “We’re trying to encourage a lifestyle where people can be active in their local communities, and do something constructive, rather than glued to a device. It’s really about living your life with your heart leading the way.” The song will be apart of their new album of the same name, releasing June 14. ” Turn Off the News (Build a Garden)” is the second single released from the album, following “Bad Case.”
Along with the single release, they started a video series showcasing “stories of hope, community gardening and local activism.” After the album’s release, the band will be hitting the road playing select dates of Willie Nelson’s Outlaw Music Festival alongside Alison Krauss, The Avett Brothers, and The Revivalists.
