An album that encompasses all feelings
Having only been in the music scene since last year, Louise Lemón is on a fast track for producing quality music. With A Broken Heart is An Open Heart being her second album in two years, it shows her drive to produce music and assures that there will be more from her in the future.
From the first song on the album, “Sunlight,” listeners can feel the ambiance building up in a slow manner that transitions into hauntingly beautiful vocals. As the title of the album suggests, the songs all revolve around the feelings of a broken heart. Even just looking at the titles of the songs such as “Not Enough” and “Swimming in Sadness,” fans already get a feel for what the album is going to put them through.
Each song brings about different thoughts and emotions that anyone who has gone through heartbreak can relate to. While “Not Enough” speaks to the torment of loving someone so much and not getting the same level in return, “Blurry Vision” cuts deep with the lyrics “I can’t forget you/ can’t forgive you.” Louise Lemón accurately captures the struggle of not being able to forget about someone while recognizing their faults. Every song is a different journey of emotions.
Even the song without any lyrics, “Susceptible Soul,” conveys the devastation of a broken heart through the blues-like guitar sequence. The tempo of the instruments plays into the vibe of a heartbroken soul.
What really stands out of the album is the progression of the songs leading to the final track, “A Broken Heart is An Open Heart.” Throughout the album, the songs clearly convey different feelings that a person can have while experiencing a broken heart, but the final song comes to a realization conveyed in the title.
Overall, there is no real change in depth of the vocals, but the tone Louise Lemón set plays into the solemn atmosphere. With the clarity and depth of the lyrics in A Broken Heart is An Open Heart, it’s clear to see that Louise Lemón has gone through a lot and concisely portrays universal feelings in a cohesive album.
