The first single has been released from Avicii’s upcoming posthumous album. It is the first song to be released since the musician’s unfortunate death last year. Avicii, whose real name was Tim Bergling, had been working on many songs for his next album before his death, closely collaborating with various producers and performers. It was just announced last week that many of those close to Bergling have come together to finish those tracks as a tribute album to him. The album was just announced last week, and will be titled TIM in honor of Avicii. TIM is set to be released on June 6.
The new single, titled “SOS,” also features singer Aloe Blacc, a good friend of Bergling’s. Blacc was also the singer on Avicii’s worldwide hit song “Wake Me Up.” Alongside the track itself, three different videos about the song were also released. The first video was a lyric video for the track, which also featured visuals for the instrumental portions of the song. Next was a fan tribute video, the main music video for the single. The fan tribute video featured the song playing as messages from fans who had been touched by Avicii’s music displayed on screen.
The third video regarding “SOS” released today was a behind the scenes look at how it was created following Avicii’s death. It details how his collaborators worked together to do as much as they could to honor the legacy of Avicii with this upcoming project, especially with recording “SOS.” The video features interviews with various members of the team working on TIM, including Aloe Blacc.
