Red Bull has announced it will be closing down the Red Bull Music Academy and its associated programs after over 20 years. The service started in 1998, with Red Bull attempting to provide an avenue for underground artists to spread their music and have access to any necessary equipment. Alongside the academy, Red Bull is also shutting down its Red Bull Radio platform. As of now, it has been announced that the services would be discontinued at the end of October. Over the years, a variety of artists across the globe have benefitted from the programs and events held by the Red Bull Music Academy. The organization has been a sponsor of various concerts and music festivals across the globe.
Yadastar, the company that worked alongside Red Bull to promote and develop the academy, have stated that the decision to end the program did not come with any resentment. In a statement made on twitter, the company wrote that it had been a pleasure to work with Red Bull and all the talented artists over the years and wished them the best. The decision comes as a blow to many music fans, however, as the promotion and availability created by Red Bull has helped many become exposed to new music over the years.
This is not the complete end of Red Bull’s place in the music scene, however, as the Red Bull Music brand will still continue to operate in a more decentralized form. Red Bull will still maintain a force in the industry, but will now turn its attention to new approaches and methods to bring cutting-edge music into the forefront.
