Listening to Teen Daze’s (born name is Jamison Isaak) music is listening to tranquility and contemplation, so you can make an escape of realities. In his dreamy style and unpretentious authenticity, we embrace the simplicity and purity of the new song “Longing.”
The Canadian electronic musician from British Columbia announced his new album Bioluminescence, his sixth proper full-length album, will be released on April early this January. Now it is the time. “Longing” is one of the tracks among “Endless Light,” “Spring” & “Hidden Worlds” and more. The new music video is an accompaniment of “Longing” based on telling a sci-fi themed story. A story about a scientist puts his dedication on an invention, working in routine day and night until he finally creates something. As the ending of the video that scientist unhands the final creation, Teen Daze feels identified with the character. He states his inspiration and idea of the video: “the story of the inventor, working in a deep routine, only to finally create something that slips away from him, is something that I feel like I experience every time I release an album.” It’s the beauty of let-go.
“Longing” is a chillwave that leaves space for all to feel the sensibility and take a deep breath. It’s a perfect bedroom song. But the music video acts as the cinematic art for increasing its abundance only with few scenarios.
Instead of being consumed, Teen believes in nature and idyllic life. The appeal is surreal but friendly. His album Themes for a New Earth in 2018 is a prove. The sounds of the tracks in BIOLUMINESCENCE were recorded from the rock hitting water nearby the Pacific Ocean. The new album BIOLUMINESCENCE is more like an amalgamation of organic music sounds, Teen’s matured music skills and even his personal experience after being depressed.
