The first-ever Salute The Troops Music and Comedy Festival announced its 2019 lineup, featuring artists like Snoop Dogg, Cold War Kids, Dashboard Confessional and more. Additionally, comedians Adam Carolla and Rob Riggle will take the stage.
This festival takes place on Friday, March 22nd and Saturday, March 23rd at the historic March Field Air Museum in Riverside, CA. It is the first edition, aimed at raising awareness for Post-Traumatic Stress and the rising suicide rates among returning soldiers and veterans. In order to promote the cause, each ticket sold will provide a free ticket to an active service man or woman. Veterans will receive discounted prices.
Nate Parienti is responsible for founding the Salute the Troops Music and Comedy festival with help from co-founder John Wertz of Semper Fi Productions. The event will take place at March Air Reserve base on an annual basis with certain artists meeting with the troops and participating in military activities. Festival-goers will have access to over 80 aircrafts on display for photos. Some additional highlights for the festival include a Prince tribute from his former band, The New Power Generation, DJs, craft beverages, food and more.
Big names like Snoop Dogg, Cold War Kids and Dashboard Confessional top the lineup for the festival. Snoop Dogg, one of the biggest names to come out of the early ‘90s G-funk era, has been up to new fun while making an appearance in the upcoming Beach Bum film. The California based Cold War Kids will showcase their diverse and passionate sound, including their 2018 album This Will All Blow Over in Time, a collection of the band’s radio singles and rare tracks. Christopher Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional will perform at this festival before hitting others in the later months.
Other artists include Capital Cities and members of the Wu-Tang clan. Capital Cities recently dropped an album in 2018 called Solarize. Ghostface Killah and Method Man of Wu-Tang clan will be joined by other members on stage including Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa, Cappadonna, U-God and Redman. Electronic trio Cheatcodes will take the stage as well after a couple of shows in Europe. Additionally, William Ryan Key from Yellowcard is on the lineup.
The festival will be a great way to raise awareness and support for this important cause. Major Perry Covington, USAF, said, “We are truly humbled at the support we receive from our community. An event such as this, honoring the men and women of the armed forces, is greatly appreciated.”
Two-day tickets and select tickets for veterans and active service men and women are on sale now and can be found here.
UPDATE (3/8): Big changes are in the works for the Salute the Troops Music and Comedy Festival. Most notably, the festival is moving from Riverside to Pomona, where it will take place at The Fox Theater and The Glass House in the city’s downtown area. According to a representative for the festival, the streets between the two venues will be closed off from traffic, creating an outdoor, urban festival experience. The representative stated the change in venue was due to the Riverside site being unable to accommodate the scale and production needs of the festival.
Salute the Troops is also expanding to three days from two. It’s also announced new limited pricing tiers of $49.99 per day, and a very limited amount of 3 day passes at $99.99, which are available on the festival’s website.
