Janet Jackson, The Cure, Def Leppard, Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, Roxy Music and the Zombies are set to be inducted into the 2019 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The 2019 induction ceremony presented by Klipsch Audio, will be held March 29 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
To be eligible, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years before the year of nomination. Fans had the opportunity to vote for their favorites out of 15 nominees. They visited Rockhall.com to cast votes for the most deserving artist of induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The top five artists, as selected by the public, comprised a “fans’ ballot” that was tallied, along with the other ballots to choose the 2019 inductees. Voting was capped at one ballot per day.
While only five can be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame there were many more nominees announced before they narrowed the selection down. Nominees for 2019 include Def Leppard, Devo, Janet Jackson, John Prine, Kraftwerk, LL Cool J, MC5, Radiohead, Rage Against the Machine, Roxy Music, the Cure, Todd Rundgren, Rufus & Chaka Khan, the Zombies and perhaps the early frontrunner for induction, Stevie Nicks (who is already inducted as a member of Fleetwood Mac).
The ceremony is such an honor for musicians the world over. Fans will be celebrating these musicians on their great achievement. The show will be broadcast on HBO and SiriusXM. Ticket information will be announced in January.
