According to The PRP, metal band Slipknot are sending their festival to Bogota Columbia this year. The first-ever Knotfest Columbia takes place October 26th at the Hipódromo de Los Andes in Bogota, Columbia. Headlining this year’s event, is the legendary Judas Priest with additional performances by Iron Reagan, Revocation, Helloween, Kreator and more. Hailing from Des Moines, Iowa, the Grammy award winning Slipknot, started the festival in 2012. Featuring big top circus tents, carnival rides, dancers and firebreathers to provide a dark carnival-like experience akin to the clown-like masks the band are known to wear on stage. This year marks the second year that Slipknot will not perform at the festival they created. However, frontman Corey Taylor recently revealed that after a brief hiatus, the band has plans to release a new album in 2019.
Although this years fest is a single day event, in 2016 Knotfest merged with Ozzfest, as the later celebrated it’s 20th anniversary, for a two day festival. 2017 saw the two fests join forces again for a two day event back in San Bernardino, California. Previous Knotfest locations include Iowa, Wisconsin, Tokyo and Mexico.
English metal pioneers, Judas Priest’s career has spanned nearly five decades. They have released eighteen albums and earned multiple Grammy award nominations, including one win. Their latest album, Firepower, came out on March 9, 2018 following 2014s Redeemer of Souls. Known for their hits “Turbo Lover” and “Breaking the Law”, Judas Priest were recently nominated for induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. According to Blabbermouth, Rob Halford just announced that he and his band will honor their 50th anniversary as a band with a celebration in 2019.
Revocation have a new album scheduled for release on September 28th titled The Outer Ones. Knotfest is just one of the stops on Revocations, lengthy list of fall tour dates.
